On June 22, 26, staff and members of the institute celebrated the institute’s 10th anniversary with a barbecue on the campus of Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences has set itself the goal of institutionalizing applied research on issues related to aging, health, and assistive technology within a research institute. On November 2, 2016, the inaugural meeting of the “Health, Aging, and Technology” (GAT) Research Institute took place in Görlitz. You can find more about its history here.
Ten years have passed since its founding, during which many great projects have been implemented and completed. The institute looks to the future with confidence. Many new topics, such as the use of AI in nursing care, are opening up new avenues for research.
The social gathering was also used as an opportunity to bid farewell to long-time staff member Dr. Katja Knaute.
The institute will once again officially mark the anniversary with a small exhibition at the conference “Medical Technology in Transition – Technologies and Innovations for Tomorrow’s Medicine” on November 5, 2026.
