Campus.Connect² - Secure, fast, digital: university processes with BundID, ZBP and EUDI wallet
The universities in Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG) and Dresden (HTW Dresden) are jointly implementing the Campus.Connect² pilot project to digitally transform university administrative processes in Saxony in a sustainable manner. The goal is to integrate the BundID, the Central Citizen Mailbox (ZBP), and the future EUDI Wallet into day-to-day university operations—to enhance security, efficiency, and service quality.

Goal: A flagship project for digital University Administration in Germany and Europe.
What we do
- Secure Identification: Students and faculty can log in securely and in compliance with data protection regulations using BundID—without the need for copies of ID cards or insecure emails.
- Legally compliant delivery: Notifications such as admission notices or notifications of de-registration are delivered directly and with legal validity to the Central Citizen Mailbox (ZBP).
- Digital certificates: Universities can issue verifiable digital certificates (e.g., enrolment certificates) to the EUDI Wallet—machine-readable, secure, and without media discontinuity.
- Future-proof infrastructure: The solution is modular and scalable—it is integrated into the HISinOne campus management system and is thus available to all universities nationwide.
Why the project is important
Current processes are often paper-based or rely on isolated digital solutions—which leads to high administrative overhead, media breaks, and data protection risks. With Campus.Connect², we are creating a unified, secure, and future-proof foundation for the entire student life cycle—from the application process to graduation administration.

What comes after the project?
The results are incorporated into HISinOne standard updates and are automatically made available to all member institutions of HIS eG. The solution is reusable, scalable, and sustainable —with support from HIS eG and partners in academia and industry.
