Information on the Saxon Transparency Act

The Saxon Transparency Act of August 19, 2022 (Sächs-GVBl., p. 486) has been in effect since January 1, 2023. It grants every person the right to access information available at an entity subject to transparency requirements in the Free State of Saxony, provided that no exception applies (right to transparency).

Pursuant to Section 4, subsection 3, sentence 1, no. 7 of the Saxon Transparency Act, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is such a body subject to transparency requirements. The University of Zittau/Görlitz’s transparency obligation applies exclusively to information regarding the names of third-party funding providers, the amount of third-party funding, and the duration of completed research projects funded by third-party funds. Detailed information on this can be found on our research information portal at https://fis.hszg.de/index.html

Certain information will be made available in the future on the Free State of Saxony’s electronic transparency platform, which is currently still under development.

For further information, a request may be submitted in writing or electronically to Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. As a rule, the request does not need to be justified. However, pursuant to Section 10(3) of the Saxon Transparency Act, the request should be justified if the legitimate interests of third parties are affected. A sample request form and further information can be found on the website of the Saxon Data Protection and Transparency Commissioner.
