About the Person:
Professor Kratzsch completed his studies in electrical engineering and automation technology at HSZG in 2003. In 2009, he earned his Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) from the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. In March 2011, he was appointed professor of measurement technology and process automation at HSZG.
From the very beginning, Prof. Kratzsch was very active in research. From 2004 to 2011, he worked as a project team member on BMBF-funded projects at HSZG or as the principal investigator of research projects. In 2011, he assumed leadership of the “Measurement Technology/Process Automation” division at the Institute for Process Engineering, Process Automation, and Measurement Technology (IPM). From 2009 to 2016, he served as a project manager at the IPM, and from 2016 to 2020, he served as director of the IPM. From January 2019 to February 2020, he headed the “Lightweight Construction and Energy Technology” research group at Fraunhofer IWU, the Upper Lusatia Plastics Center.
In addition to his research, he was also involved in academic self-governance. In 2015, he took over as head of the “automation and mechatronics” degree programme at the HSZG; served as a core technical advisor for the mechatronics department at the German-Mexican University; was responsible for the student exchange program with Mexico in the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; and was a member of the HSZG’s Standing Commission on Engineering Sciences.
