Research in the faculties

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science ' is the third largest unit at the university and is closely linked to the with the Institute of Process Engineering, Process Automation and Metrology (IPM). is closely linked. We use this synergy to offer SMEs and corporations a professional environment for cooperative projects.

Research at the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies is an important academic area alongside teaching.

On the Faculty pages, we provide a brief overview of the main areas of research at the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies, examples of selected research projects and the opportunities for applied research (e.g. Bachelor's/Master's theses, internships).

The professors and staff publish their research results by participating in regional, national and international conferences. A number of university lecturers have an impact beyond the regional area through specialist publications. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is a traditional pillar of engineering education in Zittau, particularly in the disciplines of mechanical engineering and energy and environmental engineering. As one of the strongest research faculties at our university, it can look back on a long tradition, which has been expanded in recent years to include new focal points such as "new materials and technologies". We offer SMEs and corporations ideal opportunities for cooperative research and development projects.

The application-oriented as well as basic research papers of our university lecturers deal with projects on a wide range of issues in the natural and life sciences as well as mathematics. The thematic focus on "Energy and the Environment" plays a major role here.

Many of our research projects are integrated into national and international research networks. We have also been successful in acquiring extensive third-party funding.

The Faculty's research activities are regularly presented to a wide audience at scientific colloquia, specialist seminars, workshops and conferences. We also offer laboratory tours, demonstration events and practical courses in the laboratories for organic and inorganic chemistry, biotechnology and general and technical environmental protection (MVSR research laboratory).

The Faculty's research is characterized by a predominantly (Euro)regional focus and a high degree of inter- and transdisciplinarity.

Over the years, social research methods have been systematically developed and established in parallel to the research focus. The studies now cover a broad spectrum of methodological and methodological approaches. In addition to ethnographic field research, biographical research and metaphor analysis, evaluation research is also carried out, covering both qualitative and quantitative social research paradigms.
