Representative body for severely disabled persons

The Representative Body for Severely Disabled Employees is the elected representative body for employees with severe disabilities and their equals, whose tasks are defined in SGB IX. The representative body for severely disabled employees

• promotes the integration of severely disabled people and represents their interests within the company,
• provides advice and assistance to people with disabilities,
• monitors compliance with laws, regulations, collective agreements, company or service agreements, administrative orders and, in particular, compliance with the obligations incumbent on the employer,
• applies to the competent authorities for measures that benefit severely disabled people,
• accepts suggestions and complaints from severely disabled employees and helps to clarify problems with the department,
• supports employees with applications for the determination of a disability, as well as with applications for equal status at the employment agency.

In departments where five severely disabled persons are employed on a more than temporary basis, a representative body for severely disabled persons is elected. It consists of a representative and at least one deputy.

All severely disabled persons employed at the HSZG areentitled to vote.

All employees of the HSZGwho

• are not only temporarily employed
• have reached the age of 18 on election day and
• have been working at the HSZG for 6 months.

The elections take place every 4 years.

In order to fulfill its duties, the representative body for severely disabled employees has rights to information, consultation and participation, such as involvement in appointment procedures and other recruitment procedures. The employer must inform the representative body for severely disabled employees in all matters that affect an individual or the severely disabled employees as a group and consult them before making a decision.
