Equal opportunities officer

In accordance with its mission statement, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse community. Gender equality efforts are an essential part of this commitment, aimed at promoting gender-equitable structures and eliminating discrimination. The goal is to create a work and learning environment that supports everyone, regardless of gender, background, or life circumstances.

The university’s activities in the areas of equal opportunity, gender equality, inclusion/accessibility, and family-friendliness are coordinated by the Office for Gender Equality, Inclusion, Women’s Studies, and Diversity Research (AGIFD).

Central and Decentralized Equal Opportunities Officers

The equal opportunities officers actively advocate for the implementation of equal opportunity at the university. They submit proposals, monitor processes, provide input, and offer support.

The central equal opportunities officer serves, among other roles, as an advisory member of the Senate and the Extended Senate and participates as an advisory member in the meetings of the Staff Council and the Staff Development Commission.

The decentralized equal opportunities officers of the structural units are, among other things, voting members of the Faculty Councils and provide advisory support during hiring and appointment procedures. They have the right “to participate in meetings of the Tenure Committees with the right to speak and submit motions” (Section 56(2) of the Saxon Higher Education Act (SächsHSG)).

The diverse responsibilities of the equal opportunities officers are outlined in the Saxon Equal Opportunity Act (§ 19 SächsGleiG) and in the Saxon Higher Education Act (§ 56 SächsHSG).
