Equal Opportunities Officer

In accordance with its mission statement, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is committed to an inclusive and diverse community. Gender equality work is an essential part of this in order to promote gender-equitable structures and reduce discrimination. The aim is to create a working and learning environment that supports all people regardless of gender, origin or life situation.

The university's activities in the areas of equal opportunities, equality, inclusion/accessibility and family friendliness are bundled in the Office for Gender Equality, Inclusion, Women's and Diversity Research (AGIFD).

Central and decentralized equal opportunities officers

The Equal Opportunities Officers are actively committed to the implementation of equal opportunities at the university. They make suggestions, accompany processes, comment and offer support.

The central Equal Opportunities Officer is, among other things, an advisory member of the Senate and Extended Senate and participates as an advisory member in meetings of the Staff Council and the Staff Development Commission.

The decentralized Equal Opportunities Officers of the structural units are, among other things, voting members of the Faculty Councils and provide advice on recruitment and appointment procedures. They have the right to "participate in meetings of the Tenure Committees with the right to speak and submit motions" (Section 56 (2) SächsHSG).

The diverse tasks of the Equal Opportunities Officers are described in the Saxon Equal Opportunities Act (§ 19 SächsGleiG) and in the Saxon Higher Education Act (§ 56 SächsHSG).
