At the HSZG, you, dear pupils, are already welcome during your time at school. We will introduce you to studying through various events.
We want to strengthen your ability to decide on a course of study!
Below we have described the events we offer in detail. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. You can also find further suggestions on our social media channels, on the HSZG YouTube channel and in the numerous podcasts on our degree programs.
Scientists from various disciplines will have their say and show how exciting science can be. The current program and further information can be found on the Görlitz and Zittau Kinder Academy website: Link to the website
The DLR_School_Lab of the HSZG in Zittau is a school laboratory for scientific experimentation on 350 m². It offers exciting science and technology experiences for pupils from a whole class. At up to 6 experimental islands, pupils are introduced to the topics by students and staff and then become increasingly active themselves. To ensure that the visit to our DLR_School_Lab at the HSZG does not take place separately from lessons, the topics are based on the Saxon curriculum.
Possible from grade 5 and particularly recommended for pupils in grades 8 to 11. We will be happy to advise you on this, please contact us.
Further information and booking here
The DLR_School_Lab of the HSZG is part of the"Zukunftslernort Oberlausitz", a brand of the HSZG for extracurricular STEM education. The aim is to promote and develop STEM skills in children and young people. Innovative learning spaces in four fields of activity exist for this purpose.

Under the motto "Knowledge on board", we bring digital technologies into schools. The mobile laboratory "Airlab" consists of a 7 m long Airstream trailer and a towing vehicle. Both vehicles have been configured for working with pupils.
In the Airlab, pupils from year 7 onwards can tinker with and produce 3D-printed components and use digital technology (laser cutter, microscope, robotic arm, drone, etc.). Our guiding students and employees encourage them to "do it themselves". This means that learning takes place during production.
We are happy to come to your schoolyard. Book us!
The "Mobile Laboratory" is part of the"Future Learning Location Upper Lusatia", a brand of the HSZG for extracurricular STEM education. The aim is to promote and develop STEM skills in children and young people. Innovative learning spaces in four fields of activity exist for this purpose.

Individual lessons can take place in the university laboratories as part of the school curriculum. An excursion to the university laboratories is particularly suitable for the subjects of physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and computer science.
If required, we can also come to the grammar school with a specialist subject. You are welcome to contact us.
You can complete your compulsory school internship with a focus on STEM from year 9 in our DLR_School_Lab or in the engineering, economics and natural sciences faculties. The HSZG can also be a practical partner for students at technical colleges (FOS). Those interested can also complete additional internships during the vacations. How does that work? Find out more here.
Students in grades 10-13 choose their favorite course of study for a day and experience the HSZG from the inside.
After the welcome in the lecture hall, the students spread out into the faculties and experience individual programs there. In addition to the academic exchange, the program also includes getting to know the HSZG with the Görlitz and Zittau campuses, the canteen, the library and local student life.
Studieren probieren takes place in the months of October-December and March-May on the weekdays Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Please contact us so that we can arrange an ideal date for your class or year group.
The HSZG is at your side as a partner for your Complex Achievement (KL) and Special Learning Achievement (BELL). We can offer you experimental support, especially in scientific, technical and commercial subjects. Once you have developed an idea for your topic, it is best to ask your high school teachers whether they have any contacts with teachers at the HSZG. If not, you are welcome to contact us (see below). We will let you know as soon as possible what support is available.
In some schools, the KL is provided in connection with attending regular student classes / courses. In this case, please contact our school contact office first (see below) so that we can prepare access to the faculties for you. This will make it easier for you to access the HSZG.
In June 2026, the Department of Computer Science will be holding its annual IT summer party for students.
We will meet at the Görlitz campus and do computer science together. For this purpose, a key topic of computer science will be presented in more detail as part of a class / course. Afterwards we will realize small projects, so-called "cups" with you. Our summer party is to be understood as a playful competition that is also about fun and teamwork. After refreshments (pizza has proven its worth...), the most interesting projects are voted on together and the winners of the respective cups are determined.
For example, after a topic-related introduction to programming, you can become active in one of three possible specializations:
No previous knowledge is expected of you - curiosity and interest are enough. We will teach you everything you need to know to take part. Your added value is that you will meet like-minded people, work in a team right from the start and meet very good computer scientists with us!
Get in touch with us! Let us know how interested you are, ask us any questions you may have or get in touch by email at any time: IT-Sommerfest@hszg.de
We will be happy to clarify any questions you may have about school deregistration on this day...
Save the Date!
Event period: 1 day in June from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: Campus Görlitz, Department of Computer Science
The specific topic/program for 2026 is still being prepared and will be published in advance at https://f-ei.hszg.de/it-sommerfest in good time.
