Scientific work in the digital world

The module teaches students how to work scientifically with a special focus on digital methods and tools. The aim is to develop the ability to work systematically on scientific questions, to research information independently, to reflect critically and to present it in an appropriate written and oral form. Contents include

  • Fundamentals of scientific theory (including epistemological positions, research logic, quality criteria of scientific work),
  • Methods of literature and information research, including the use of subject-specific databases, search strategies and tools for literature management,
  • Citation methods and plagiarism avoidance according to common scientific standards (APA, MLA, etc.),
  • Use of digital and AI-supported tools to support academic writing (e.g. AI assistants, text analysis tools),
  • Structuring, argumentation and text design for term papers, reports and other academic formats,
  • Designing convincing presentations,

Students try out various tools in practical exercises and reflect on their benefits for their own academic work process. Ethical, legal and qualitative aspects of digitally supported science are also covered.

Then the "Innovation and Project" module is just right for you! Here you will learn how to turn good ideas into real innovations - using the methods that make start-ups and companies successful worldwide.
