This module offers a unique approach to the building and regional history of Upper Lusatia. External experts and lecturers from the HSZG provide an introduction to the architecture, use and diversity of half-timbered houses - supplemented by topics such as monument preservation, archaeology, building construction and renovation.
In creative and digital practicals, participants work with traditional materials such as wood, clay and wicker and model Umgebinde houses as 3D objects. A full-day excursion through the Umgebindeland with visits to special buildings rounds off the module.
The traditional "Karl-Bernert-Kolleg - Regionale Holzbauweisen der Lausitz" series will be continued as part of the Studium Fundamentale.
