Transformation Competence for the Economy, Society, and Post-Coal Regions

We combine technological strength with expertise in the social sciences.

The HSZG shapes structural change by bringing together technological innovations and insights from the social sciences. From energy and semiconductor technologies to regional identity and new forms of participation: we integrate economic, environmental, and social dimensions. This combination of hard and soft location factors makes Lausitz a pioneer for post-coal regions—in both Europe and Asia.

Collaborations that have an impact

Our strength lies in efficiently transferring knowledge and technology into practice. Close cooperation between science, business and society creates solutions that promote sustainable development and regional innovation. This is how transfer has a real impact - for the region, its companies and its people.

For a new quality in transfer:
Saxony⁵ stands for a new quality in technology and knowledge transfer: intensive interdisciplinary collaboration and intelligent networking result in solutions that set new standards in terms of both methodology and content. In this way, we strengthen the region and promote sustainable welfare development. In the transfer network with the Saxon universities of applied sciences in Dresden, Leipzig, Mittweida, Zwickau and other partners, we work closely together, pooling our resources and expertise in the key areas of production, energy and the environment, thus creating a strong innovation network for science, business and society.

Research with impact - transformation in urban & rural areas

The HSZG shapes transformation where it takes place: in cities, rural regions, and cross-border areas. Our research provides concepts for post-coal regions and makes the HSZG a strong partner for transformation processes affecting society as a whole. We develop future perspectives for long-term structural change and design initiatives that promote dialogue with society.

Lausitz expert reports on socio-ecological transformation:
Attracting and Retaining Skilled Workers – Insights on Demographic Change:

Our research explores, among other things, how regional development, labor market strategies, and living conditions interact. In doing so, we place a special focus on gender-sensitive perspectives and the retention of international students.

Young talent for the region:

With projects such as Youth Vision Action (YVA) we are focusing on the next generation. YVA brings together young people from Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, strengthens their ties to the region and opens up prospects in an international context. In this way, we secure the talents of tomorrow at an early stage.

Partnerships start with a conversation.
