The Science Year of the HSZG
The Year of Science is the central strategic framework for the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences to combine interdisciplinary research with social dialog. Each year, the university dedicates itself to a current focus topic that is important for the region and beyond. The aim is to bring together scientists, partners from the field and the public to discuss pressing future issues in a controversial and solution-oriented manner.
Review of topics:
- 2025/2026: "Future under tension: energy, AI and us in the city of tomorrow " - opportunities and conflicts in the field of tension between the energy transition and artificial intelligence.
- 2024/2025 : "Those up there, us down there " - Interdisciplinary views on social minefields (representation, trust, elites) and the development opportunities of our region.
- 2023/2024: "Turning point" - also for research? - Challenges between defense research, migration, climate and regional structural change.
- 2022/2023: "The heat supply on the test bench?" - Security of supply and sustainable heating concepts in times of crisis.
- 2021/2022 : "Knowledge transfer of the future " - Under the motto "Everything transfer, or what?" in focus: How innovations effectively reach the economy and society.
- 2020/2021: "Bioeconomy " - Research on renewable resources, based on the BMBF's Year of Science.
- 2019/2020: "Artificial Intelligence " - From neural networks to robots with feelings.
