Strategic Technology Transfer Specialist (m/f/d) - Reference Number: 40-2026 Ref Transfer -

As part of the Free State of Saxony’s university innovation strategy and the funding provided by the Saxon State Ministry of Science, Culture, and Tourism (SMWK) to strengthen knowledge transfer structures, HSZG is strategically expanding its knowledge transfer activities. The goal is to sustainably establish an impact-oriented transfer management system and to further raise the university’s profile as a key innovation and development partner for the region.

The position holder supports the university leadership in the strategic development, management, and evaluation of knowledge, technology, and innovation transfer at the University of Zittau/Görlitz. The role involves developing concepts and management tools, overseeing the implementation of Saxony’s university innovation strategy, initiating strategic partnerships, and analyzing and further developing university-wide transfer structures.

Strategic Development and Transfer Management

• Strategic support for the implementation, evaluation, and further development of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences’ transfer strategy,
• Developing recommendations for university leadership to strengthen the transfer of knowledge, technology, and innovation,
• Establishing and further developing a university-wide, impact-oriented transfer management system, including appropriate monitoring and evaluation tools,

Implementation of the Saxony University Innovation Strategy

• Operational implementation of the Free State of Saxony’s university innovation strategy in the area of technology transfer and commercialization,
• Independent analysis and assessment of developments in innovation policy, as well as the formulation of strategic recommendations for action to position the university within the innovation system of the Free State of Saxony.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Impact Measurement

• Development and implementation of a transfer-related reporting system,
• Analysis and presentation of qualitative and quantitative metrics to illustrate technology transfer activities and their impacts,
• Participation in internal and external reporting requirements, particularly to the SMWK.

Collaborations and Network Management

• Development and implementation of strategic collaboration concepts, as well as the establishment and management of institutional partnerships with companies, public institutions, associations, scientific institutions, and civil society actors to ensure the university’s sustainable positioning; management and further development of strategically relevant key partnerships and knowledge transfer networks;
• Systematic networking of researchers with external partners, as well as support for interdisciplinary collaborations.

Project Development and Third-Party Funding

• Conceptual development and strategic support for grant projects related to knowledge transfer, innovation, and regional development, including the analysis of funding programs, the development of competitive project proposals, and the coordination and support of third-party funding applications

Event and Knowledge Transfer Formats

• Design, strategic development, and implementation of target-group-oriented knowledge transfer, innovation, and dialogue formats to implement the university’s knowledge transfer strategy,
• Management, quality assurance, and evaluation of event formats, including stakeholder communication, performance analysis, and the derivation of strategic measures for the further development of knowledge transfer activities.

Communication and Training

• Support in adapting research findings for non-academic audiences in a manner tailored to their needs,
• Supporting researchers in transfer-related communication and visibility,
• Designing and implementing training and awareness-raising programs on knowledge transfer, collaboration, commercialization, and science communication.

Structural Development of Knowledge Transfer

• Analysis, design, and continuous structural development of university-wide knowledge transfer processes and interfaces in collaboration with stakeholders from the relevant organizational units,
• Establishment and further development of a university-wide relationship management system for strategic partners.

Analysis and Future Development

• Monitoring national and international developments in the areas of knowledge transfer, innovation, and the third mission,
• Deriving strategic development initiatives for the university,
• Preparation of decision-making documents and concepts for university leadership and governing bodies.

Fund Management and Documentation (SMWK Allocation)

• Supporting the appropriate implementation, documentation, and accountability for funds provided by the SMWK to strengthen knowledge transfer structures,
• Participation in funding requests, statements of expenditure, and status reports to the SMWK,
• Ensuring the proper documentation of transfer-related activities and expenditures in compliance with funding regulations.

• a successfully completed academic degree (Master’s, Diplom, or comparable degree),
• Knowledge or professional experience in knowledge management, technology transfer, innovation management, collaboration management, or academic administration,
• Knowledge of the structures and working methods of universities, research institutions, or comparable organizations,
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders from academia, industry, government, or civil society.

• Experience in technology transfer or innovation management,
• Experience in managing externally funded projects,
• Knowledge of the German academic and funding landscape,
• knowledge of patent, intellectual property, or commercialization management,
• experience in monitoring, reporting, and evaluation,
• Knowledge of science communication,
• Experience in event and network management,
• Knowledge of regional innovation and technology transfer stakeholders,
• Experience in designing and implementing training or professional development programs.

Salary will be up to Pay Grade 13 under the TV-L collective bargaining agreement, provided the personal qualifications are met. The primary place of work is Zittau.
