Digital Solutions for an Aging Society

The GAT Institute is participating in a new EU doctoral program titled “Digi4Age – Future Leaders in an Aging and Digitalized Society.”

Europe’s aging population and rapid digitalization are transforming society, yet they are often viewed as separate challenges. The Digi4Age project takes a different approach—it links these two societal megatrends with the goal of training a new generation of European leaders through doctoral education, who will develop inclusive, technology-driven solutions for aging societies. This pan-European doctoral network is funded under the EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions.

The program explores how digital tools can promote health, preserve identity, adapt to lifelong habits, and foster social inclusion. Drawing on the expertise of leading universities and civil society actors in nine countries (the list of all partner institutions is available here), Digi4Age addresses the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (particularly health, gender equality, and decent work) and aligns with the European initiatives “Digital Aging” and “Healthy Aging.”

The GAT Institute participates in Digi4Age as an associated partner under the subproject leadership of Prof. Dr. Andreas Hoff, together with our partners at the Institute of Sociology at the Technical University of Dortmund, which are authorized to award doctoral degrees. More information about Digi4Age is available here.
