The HSB was able to extend the majority of its database licenses for the year 2026 and thus provides a wide range of electronic resources for all subject areas of the university!
For example, the license acquired in 2025 for the VDE standards library could be continued. The campus license includes access to all standards and drafts of the DIN-VDE regulations in read-only mode.
The digital learning and teaching platform I care for nursing training from Thieme. It offers access to textbooks and learning materials, a lexicon of nursing procedures (Nursing A-Z), instructional videos and an e-learning offer. Teaching materials and case studies are provided for teachers.
The database Statista has been provided by the HSB for a number of years, but there will be a change to the access procedure for 2026. From now on, access will only be possible via Shibboleth using authentication via the HS login. Unfortunately, access via the university's IP addresses and via VPN and EZProxy is no longer possible. Please also log in to the campus network via Shibboleth to use the database.
From Springer Nature extensive e-book packages could again be purchased for 2026 in the subject areas of Educational Science and Social Work, J.B. Metzler Humanities, Medicine, Natural Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences and Law, Engineering and Computer Science, Economics, Nursing, Economics and Finance.
The HSB will continue to support open access publishing in 2026. In addition to the existing Publish and Read agreements, the HSB is participating in the Open Access funding of the SocioHub journal bundle 2026-2028. Publishing in Diamond Open Access is made possible in four journals in the social sciences. There are no costs for the authors or their institutions.

The whisper boxes are still brand new. In Görlitz, there are two soundproofed mini group workrooms that can be used for teamwork, meetings or video conferences. A single whispering box has been added in Zittau. This is also soundproofed by glass doors and offers a protected space for video conferences etc.
The red acoustic armchair is also available as a new individual workstation in Görlitz. It reduces ambient noise so that you can focus on working on your laptop or simply read a book in peace.
We cordially invite you to use the new furniture. It is not necessary to borrow keys.
