Student internship with added value: project work for Girls' Day and Boys' Day inspires enthusiasm for technology

Today's Girls' Day and Boys' Day focus on career paths that are often still characterized by traditional gender roles. The aim of this day of action is to open up new perspectives and introduce young people to professions and fields of work that they might not otherwise consider.

A good example of this is the project work of Luzi, who is currently completing a student internship with us as part of the practical training for technical college students. Her work focuses on the question of how to get girls in particular interested in technology.

To this end, she has developed a robot construction kit that not only has an appealing design, but is also technically sophisticated. She designed all the electronics required to control the robot with a smartphone via Bluetooth. The project work thus vividly combines creativity, technical understanding and practical implementation.

Projects like these show how low-threshold and motivating access to technology can be. They make it clear that technical topics are not only highly relevant, but also exciting, creative and can be experienced directly.

The project was a great enrichment for everyone involved and was a lot of fun. At the same time, it underlines the importance of practical formats to get young people interested in STEM subjects at an early age and to break down existing role models.

Many thanks to Robert Viertel for his support.
