Do you want to go on an excursion in Görlitz, but not up to the Landeskrone again?
The Königshainer Berge are just three quarters of an hour's bike ride from Görlitz and will take you back to a bygone era.
The remains of what was once a large rock formation tell the story of 200 years of granite mining in the region.
The granite stone was used, for example, in the construction of the Reichstag in Berlin. Many buildings in Görlitz were also constructed from Königshain granite.
Today, the Königshain Hills are a local recreation and excursion area.
The Firstenstein and Hochstein are particularly impressive. You can hike these stones yourself on a short hike and explore the beautiful water-filled quarries.
Or you can find out about the history of the Königshain granite rocks in the Granite Mining Museum. If you like, you can then explore the lovingly constructed nature trail and the open-air exhibition.
No matter when you make time for this excursion, the Königshain mountains are worth a visit at any time of year.
So get out of your apartment and into the natural surroundings!
