PiTiPS: Participation and co-creation for innovative technologies for informal carers and care communities

The PiTiPS project will start at the GAT Institute on May 1, 2022, after successful funding approval by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) within the funding guideline "Technology-supported innovations for care communities to improve the quality of life and health of informal caregivers".

Together with the University of Lübeck, Furtwangen University, the Bavarian Research Center for Care Digital and the interest group and self-help organization for family caregivers "wir pflegen!", the GAT will provide scientific support, advice and continuous monitoring for the joint projects in designing the participation and co-creation of caring communities. Over the four-year project period, the application-oriented joint projects will develop socio-technical solutions to better meet the care needs of informal carers while ensuring a high quality of care.

The topic of co-creation in socio-technical innovations is becoming increasingly important in the current research landscape, which is why a number of projects are underway(CoCre-HIT) or have been completed(COGA for older people) at the GAT.

With PiTiPS, the previous target groups are now being expanded to include informal carers and care communities and implemented in the form of an integrated research and development approach.
