As part of the joint project "Science Workspace Green IoT - Resilient Microclusters in Rural Areas (ReMiLa)" funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management, is seeking to fill a position (40 hours/week) as a

Research Associate (m/f/d)
- Reference: 22-2025 ReMiLa

to be filled for a limited period until 30.05.2029.

In the ReMiLa project, innovative IoT technologies for the material cycle and energy coupling and control of a wide range of processes related to agriculture and energy technology are being tested and further developed in a practical manner. Microclusters, which are created by combining existing production units such as agricultural and urban operations with renewable energy systems, serve as a platform for this approach. By closing energy and material cycles as well as spatial coupling, an efficient use of resources is achieved. The result is largely independent, resilient local production units in terms of energy and economy. With the "Science Workspace Green IoT", this concept is to be put into practice in the form of a first demonstration and transfer cluster in Lusatia in Saxony.

The activity includes the following tasks in particular:

Development and testing of an energy supply concept for the Science Workspace Green IoT,
Supporting the construction and commissioning of process and system modules
Implementation of transfer projects regarding qualification and further training,
Presentation/publication of work results including public relations and marketing.

The following knowledge and skills are required

Scientific university degree related to the above-mentioned field, e.g. energy technology, electrical engineering, computer science or industrial engineering,
Practical experience and specialist knowledge in the field of energy supply for buildings and systems,
experience in research and in third-party funded projects with partners,
practical knowledge in dealing with complex IT systems,
relevant software knowledge,
strong communication and organizational skills as well as
a working knowledge of English.

In addition, the following are desirable

Knowledge of project management and the documentation and publication of scientific results.
