Christmas greetings 2024

In his video Christmas message, Rector Alexander Kratzsch looks back on the year 2024 and, on behalf of the University Executive Board, wishes everyone a Merry Christmas.

There are only a few days left in 2024! It’s time to look back on the most important events at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

In his Christmas message , the Rector, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch, addresses students, staff, the faculty, and all members and partners of the university. He discusses the highlights, challenges, and developments of 2024. In doing so, he takes a look at the progress the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) has made this year.

From the signing of the cooperation agreement for the “Green Circular Economy” research campus to the launch of the new Sustainable Business Administration degree programme and the inauguration of the Mobile Learning Center—in 2024, Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences once again impressively demonstrated how it drives innovation, sustainability, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Its commitment to equal opportunity and diversity—evident, for example, in Equal Opportunity Week or through its first-ever certification as a family-friendly university—also reflects the HSZG’s broad mission and the dedication of its staff.

For Rector Kratzsch, the university’s success is due in particular to the strong sense of cohesion within the university community and its collaboration with external partners. The year 2024 was marked by a vibrant sense of community—whether at the university’s numerous trade show appearances, events such as the College Information Day and the enrollment ceremony, or Taiwan Day. The university’s involvement in the “University for the Future” process continued successfully, giving rise to many creative ideas and initiatives for the HSZG’s sustainable development.

The coming year will also be full of challenges and opportunities. With projects such as the Green Classroom, the further development of the new research campus, and the introduction of innovative degree programs, the HSZG will steadfastly continue on its path of transformation.

On behalf of the University Executive Board, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Kratzsch wishes all students, staff, and partners of the university a Merry Christmas, restful holidays, and a good start to the year 2025.
