At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies is seeking to fill a 1.0 FTE fixed-term position effective September 1, 2026, for the

to serve as a substitute for a professorship in Nursing Science with a focus on Clinical Reasoning (W2)

for the duration of the substitution, but no later than August 31, 2028. Part-time employment is possible in exceptional cases.

The position involves serving as a substitute for the aforementioned professorship in teaching and research, with a particular focus on the following areas:

  • Clinical reasoning, clinical judgment, and research-based nursing practice,
  • nursing diagnosis, nursing assessment, and evidence-based nursing interventions,
  • theory-guided nursing practice, nursing science-based health services research, and nursing-led care models,
  • academic nursing practice, expanded nursing practice areas, and clinical supervision in nursing education,
  • communication, education, training, and counseling in nursing care contexts,
  • Development, organization, administration, and evaluation of university and state examinations pursuant to § 39 PflBG in conjunction with §§ 35–37 PflAPrV.

The field of appointment is to be represented in lectures, seminars, exercises, internships, and projects, as well as in continuing education, particularly in the Applied Nursing Science program at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

If necessary, the appointee may be required to teach classes / courses related to the field of appointment. The teaching units must be ensured university-wide.

Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching. Teaching experience and educational philosophy must be outlined. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate must independently carry out research and development tasks in the field of appointment, actively contribute to the internationalization of the university and the further development of the discipline, and assume responsibilities in academic self-governance.

 

The ability and willingness to participate in integrative, practice-oriented, and internship-related classes are required, as is the willingness and ability to teach classes / courses in English.

 

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • authorization to use the professional title in accordance with §1 PflBG,
  • a relevant academic degree from a university,
  • demonstrated pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training,
  • a particular aptitude for academic work (typically demonstrated by a doctoral degree in a relevant field),
  • explicit teaching experience in the areas of research-based nursing practice, nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, and clinical reasoning at a college or university,
  • experience in supervising nursing students’ clinical practice,
  • experience in the development, organization, and administration of written, oral, and practical state examinations pursuant to § 39 PflBG in conjunction with §§ 35–37 PflAPrV,
  • good English skills, as well as
  • a valid driver’s license for passenger vehicles
