Substitute for the Professorship (W2) Inclusive Education in the Context of Learning - Reference: 26-2026 LA-Inclusive Education/V - (m/f/d) -

As part of a joint strategic project between Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and Leipzig University, the teaching degree course for secondary schools with special education was relaunched in the winter semester 2025/26. In order to establish the study program, the Faculty of Social Sciences at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences will offer the following positions from 01.09.2026 in the appointment area

Inclusive education in the context of the learning focus
- Reference: 26-2026 LA-Inclusive Education/V - (m/f/d)

to fill a part-time (0.5 FTE) professorship (W2 ) limited until 31.08.2028.

The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

  • Fundamentals and in-depth study of inclusive education in the context of learning as a focus of support, taking into account school and social conditions as well as related areas of development (preferably in emotional-social development),
  • Inclusive lesson design with a focus on learning, in particular planning, implementation and reflection of adaptive teaching and learning processes in general schools, special schools and inclusive schools,
  • Participation-oriented diagnostics with a focus on learning, including support planning, development and evaluation of individual support concepts and diagnosis-based lesson planning.

The person holding the position (m/f/d) is expected to take on other subject-related modules in the degree program in addition to classes / courses on the above-mentioned focal points. The teaching duties include lectures, seminars, tutorials and the supervision of practical school studies and projects.

In addition, the candidate is expected to contribute to the conceptual development and establishment of the new cooperative degree program and to network with general schools, special schools and inclusive schools in the context of the special focus on learning.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • A successfully completed academic university degree in teaching special needs education or in a relevant subject-related course of study with a proven focus on learning,
  • special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, preferably in the field of inclusion education, didactics of inclusive education, diagnostics in special needs education or related special educational disciplines,
  • a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training in the university sector as well as relevant teaching experience, in particular in the training of teachers for special schools or inclusive schools,
  • demonstrable reference of the professional career to the content and tasks of the professorship, at least 3 years of (school) practical experience in the field of special needs learning is useful if the professorship is to be made permanent and can be acquired pro rata during the period of substitution,
  • Familiarity with the curricula and educational standards in the field of teaching at special schools with a focus on learning as well as with inclusion pedagogical frameworks,
  • Experience in the development, application and reflection of participation-oriented diagnostics as well as in the transfer of scientific findings into school practice fields,
  • Ability to conduct classes / courses in German and willingness to teach in English if required.

We expect you to

  • Independent performance of research and development tasks in the area of appointment,
  • Active participation in the International Affairs of the university and the further development of the subject area,
  • Collaboration in research priorities and transfer projects of the HSZG, in particular participation in the university's third mission,
  • Ideally, experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of degree programs and in the acquisition of third-party funding,
  • assumption of academic self-administration tasks,
  • Willingness to teach at both locations of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
