Substitute for the professorship (W2) Didactics of Mathematics - Reference: 18-2026 LA-Mathematics/V - (m/f/d)

As part of a joint strategic project between the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the University of Leipzig, the teaching degree course for secondary schools with special education was relaunched in the winter semester 2025/26. In order to set up the study program, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is looking to fill the following vacancies from 01.09.2026

Didactics of Mathematics
- Reference: 18-2026 LA-Mathematics/V - (m/f/d)

to fill a part-time (0.5 FTE) professorship (W2 ) for a limited period until 31.08.2028.

The position involves representing the above-mentioned subject area in teaching and research as part of the cooperative degree program for secondary school teaching with special education with a focus on inclusive mathematics teaching.

The teaching obligation is to be implemented in lectures, seminars, exercises, school internships and projects in a subject-specific and didactically high-quality manner as part of the secondary school teaching degree program with special education and to be further developed both independently and in close cooperation with the faculties at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and the University of Leipzig.

The reference to school mathematics in teaching activities must be continuously ensured.

The educational content must be in accordance with the values and standards of the university for responsible action towards fellow human beings, society and the environment.

In addition to teaching duties, a corresponding commitment is required to independently carry out research and development tasks in the area of appointment. Tasks in academic self-administration are to be assumed. In addition, active participation in the further development and establishment of the cooperative degree program in secondary school teaching with special education as well as corresponding networking with general schools, special schools and inclusive schools is expected.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed academic university degree in mathematics or a teaching degree in mathematics,
  • second state examination or experience in school practice,
  • Completed doctorate in the field of mathematics didactics or special educational support or focus on learning difficulties,
  • Relevant teaching experience in mathematics didactics in higher education; experience in subject-specific didactics with a focus on inclusion is desirable.

We expect you to

  • Independent performance of research and development tasks in the area of appointment,
  • Active participation in the International Affairs of the university and the further development of the subject area,
  • Collaboration in research priorities and transfer projects of the HSZG, in particular participation in the university's third mission,
  • Ideally, experience in the conception, establishment and accreditation of degree programs and in the acquisition of third-party funding,
  • assumption of academic self-administration tasks,
  • Willingness to teach at both locations of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.
