As part of the project, the post holder (m/f/d) will work on the following tasks in particular:

  • Mathematical modeling (analytical, empirical) of flow and heat transport during charging and discharging of different sensible, latent and hybrid thermal energy storage systems,
  • Performing numerical simulations, preferably with COMSOL Multiphysics, to generate intermediate results for detailed questions,
  • Carrying out accompanying experimental investigations in the thermodynamics and thermal engineering laboratory for selected heat transport phenomena.

The following knowledge and skills are required

  • Completed (technical) university degree in mechanical engineering or energy and environmental engineering,
  • experience in the mathematical modeling of components of thermal energy systems,
  • experience in planning and conducting experimental studies,
  • Experience in the field of numerical simulation of flow and heat transport processes (preferably with COMSOL Multiphysics),
  • Experience in the preparation of reports and presentations (R&D results).

Only applicants who are eligible for funding within the meaning of the ESF Plus Directive 2021-2027 Higher Education and Research (dated September 1, 2022 (SächsABl. p. 1071), last amended by the directive dated December 19, 2023 (SächsABl. 2024 p. 5), contained in the administrative regulation dated December 8, 2025 (SächsABl.
