Kathleen Morgeneyer comes from Karl-Marx-Stadt, Sabine Rennefanz from Eisenhüttenstadt, two working-class towns in the GDR. They were schoolchildren when the Wall came down. They talk about their families, the fall of the Wall, the time of extreme upheaval in the 1990s, about their brothers who stayed in the East and drifted away, their working-class fathers who lost their companies and their status. They also talk about the loneliness after the war that fathers and mothers passed on to their children and granddaughters. Their texts written especially for this evening - monologues, essays, dialogs - tell of the difficulties of entering into conversation between the generations, sometimes radically subjective, sometimes coolly distanced. They are attempts to approach writing in order to understand.
In the 2022/2023 season, the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater will once again be offering a special program for students interested in theater. Director and actor Eike Zastrow, who is currently studying culture and management at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, continues to build abridge between the university and the theater with the theater club"Das StudierendenEnsemble" .
The project is not only aimed at anyone who enjoys being in the spotlight and can't wait to get a taste of the theater. Anyone who enjoys writing texts, telling stories, can imagine designing a stage set or costumes or would like to get involved in any other way in putting on a play with the help of professionals is welcome.
