CHE university ranking in the new ZEIT study guide

Computer science department at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is characterized by high practical relevance

The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences achieves excellent results in computer science in the current CHE University Ranking, which is published in the new ZEIT Study Guide 2015/16: the subject is in the top group in terms of degrees within a reasonable time, practical relevance and international orientation.

The results of the university ranking by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE) appear in the new ZEIT Study Guide 2015/16. The CHE University Ranking is the most comprehensive and detailed ranking in the German-speaking world. The CHE has examined more than 300 universities and universities of applied sciences. In addition to facts about studies, teaching and research, the ranking includes students' opinions on the study conditions at their university. The ranking is now also available on ZEIT ONLINE:

With its computer science courses (

and

),

undefinedWirtschaft+Informatik

and

undefinedInformations- und Kommunikationsmanagment

, the Department of Computer Science was able to impress in terms of practical relevance, particularly thanks to its diverse cooperation with local practice partners in teaching and research. Many classes / courses take place in direct cooperation with speakers and lecturers from local industry and are sometimes completed with the corresponding certificate. In addition, students work on projects in cooperation with industry partners as part of classes / courses, usually have working student contracts and thus prepare internships and ultimately Bachelor's and Master's theses with a corresponding practical relevance. A job in the local industry is virtually guaranteed after graduation - many IT companies have settled in Görlitz and the region in recent years and need qualified specialists.

Students study in small courses and in close cooperation with the professors and staff of the department. If there are still problems, you can receive support from mentors in higher semesters. As a rule, this ensures a degree within the standard period of study of 3 years for a Bachelor's degree and a further 2 years for a Master's degree.

There is continuous close contact with joint projects such as the IT Round Table, the local

or the computer science colloquia on current topics relating to computer science. Furthermore, eight graduates are currently doing their doctorates at the department in the research group Development of Enterprise Applications - EAD Group.

In addition to the advantages mentioned above, the Business+Computer Science degree program also has an international orientation. For example, an internship abroad is firmly integrated into the curriculum. This means that nothing stands in the way of an international career after graduation - for example as a process consultant and analyst, IT service expert or IT service manager. The Information and Communication Management course goes even further: students study at three locations in three countries - in Liberec, Wroclaw and Görlitz (

). The entire course is taught in English and has a strong intercultural focus due to the locations.
