A demand-based energy supply is a prerequisite for any economic system. Furthermore, energy provision must be both environmentally sustainable and economically viable. The modernization of our energy supply system also aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while simultaneously lowering the consumption of fossil resources. In this context, bioenergy will play an important role in the future energy supply due to its broad range of applications, its fundamentally climate-friendly nature, and, above all, its good storage capacity.

“Biomass to Power and Heat” focuses particularly—though not exclusively—on the use of solid biomass for energy in decentralized combined heat and power (CHP) plants. This encompasses the entire process chain—from the cultivation, harvesting, and processing of biomass, through the conversion process for generating usable energy, to the issue of residues. The variety of technical approaches in this area is enormous; however, thermochemical biomass gasification will be a key focus of the event.

Experts and interested parties will have the opportunity to present their experiences, findings, and scientific work and to discuss them together.
