Digital Higher Education Project

Through the Fellowship program, faculty and students at all universities, universities of applied sciences, and colleges of art and music in Saxony received annual financial support to further develop their teaching and instructional activities in light of digitalization. The individual projects were continuously presented to the higher education community to serve as practical examples and inspire further innovation. Given its many years of experience in developing digitization projects, the AKeL is responsible for the Digital Fellowships. The following fellowship projects were carried out at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences:

• LernSMART – E-assessments to promote self-directed learning processes in engineering with a focus on the structured analysis and solution of more complex tasks (Prof. Dr.-Ing. J. Meinert)
• LernSMART-Transfer – Further development of formative e-assessments and promotion of knowledge transfer in the field of engineering (Prof. Dr.-Ing. J. Meinert)
• Thermopr@ctice for OPAL – Further development of the e-learning system to support self-directed learning in engineering and preparation for its transfer to Saxon universities to ensure its sustainable establishment (Dr.-Ing. S. Herrmann)
• Working Across Borders – A Multicultural Digital Project (Prof. Dr. M. Zschocke)
• OnlineLanguagePlacement (M. Heidig, Diplom-Übersetzerin)

In open workshop formats, stakeholders involved in teaching at the partner universities (see below) were able to work on the design and development of digital media-supported teaching and learning scenarios. By drawing on a wide range of expertise and engaging in peer-to-peer exchange, they were able not only to expand their individual skills but also to directly implement a concrete, planned project in the field of digital higher education. This creates immediate added value for the faculty members themselves and for the universities as a whole.

As part of a multiplier program, stakeholders working at the intersections of academic administration (e.g., degree programme and module coordinators) were able to expand their skills in the areas of advising and change management with a focus on higher education teaching in the context of digitalization. The goal was to sustainably embed relevant innovations at the level of academic program organization.
