Begin 08. December 2022 - 14:00 Uhr
End 08. December 2022 - 19:00 Uhr

The Faculty of Management and Cultural Studies at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences was successful in the Saxony Visiting Scholar Program. On November 10, our visiting professor Zsuzsa Koltai, a cultural policy researcher at the University of Pécs, was introduced to the university public. She is conducting research in Görlitz on the topic of resilience building using the example of the Upper Lusatian museum landscape and will be co-supervising the largest group of female doctoral candidates at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (WKp - doctorate in the field of cultural policy).

Professor Koltai and her host, Prof. Matthias Theodor Vogt, can invite other female researchers from all over the world as part of the program - from Germany, Poland, Austria, Georgia, Mongolia, Japan, Cameroon and Uganda.

Students and citizens are cordially invited to discuss the opportunities and challenges of intercultural openness with them at the "Interculturality Meeting Point", from 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, in the Görlitz auditorium of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Together with the cooperation partners City of Görlitz, Kulturraum, G.HH. Theater, Senckenberg Museum and EuropaChorAkademie, we cordially invite you to join us!

A special honor: The Ambassador of Mongolia to the Federal Republic of Germany, H. E. Dr. Birvaa Mandakhbileg, will be our guest and will open the conference on this university evening.

Here you can find the invitation letter, including greetings from the District Administrator.

In his foreword, District Administrator Dr. Stephan Meyer emphasized: "The necessity of cross-border exchange for peaceful coexistence, especially in the field of art and culture, is beyond question, and the proof is provided every day by a glance at the newspaper. Here in the European City of Görlitz/Zgorzelec, you can experience at first hand how living together across borders can work, what obstacles there are, what challenges we face and what contribution art and culture can make. By meeting to develop strategies together, you will be making a valuable contribution to the further development of our society, which could not be more aptly described in the announcement of this event: 'The seminar is aimed at all those who care about the future of our human coexistence in peace and mutual understanding'. Because it is about nothing less than that: How do we want to live together peacefully in the future?"

A seminar of the Studium fundamentale and the guest professorship for cultural policy of the "Culture and Management" course at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with the equal opportunities officer of the city of Görlitz, the cultural region of Upper Lusatia-Lower Silesia, the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Theater Görlitz-Zittau, the Senckenberg Museum of Natural History Görlitz, the Europa Chor Akademie Görlitz and the Institute for Cultural Infrastructure Saxony.

Studying in Görlitz means crossing borders. The seminar is aimed at all those who care about the future of our human coexistence in peace and mutual understanding. In the two half-day open meetings, lecturers and students discuss exciting contemporary topics in the context of interculturality with their international guests.

This Studium fundamentale event is part of the Saxon guest researcher program successfully acquired by the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG). In this context, Professor ZSUZSA KOLTAI, cultural policy scholar at the University of Pécs, will be a guest of Professor MATTHIAS THEODOR VOGT at the Faculty of Management and Cultural Studies (F-MK) in the winter semester 2022/23. She is conducting research in Görlitz on the topic of "Strengthening resilience from a female perspective. Transformational research on trends, cultural policy measures and professional initiatives in connection with learning processes in museums in peripheral regions". The program allows Professor
Koltai to invite female researchers from numerous countries to talk to students and citizens.

The event is open to students of all faculties and (also free of charge) to citizens of the region. The event is also aimed at students who are taking part in the lectures "Interculturality" and "World Religions" in the Fundamental Studies module "Values and Culture" or in the "International Study Buddy Program" (in cooperation with the International Office) .
