The junior research group "GAP - Gender Proportion in ESF Science and Research Projects", consisting of scientists from the Technical Universities of Dresden, Chemnitz and Freiberg, the Mittweida University of Applied Sciences and the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, has spent the last two years examining ESF-funded projects at Saxon universities with regard to gender equality aspects.
Why is it that the target proportion of 50 percent women has not yet been achieved either among the participants in the study success projects or among the doctoral scholarships awarded and members of the junior research groups? Initial recommendations for action in the areas of teaching, university development and ESF structures have emerged from the research. These are now to be revised in a participatory process - and we look forward to your help!
The results and recommendations for action will then be submitted to the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism at the end of the year in a final report and will serve as a basis for improvements to the funding guidelines.
