The position includes the representation of the above-mentioned professorship in teaching and research, in particular with the following focal points:

• Theoretical computer science

• Algorithms and data structures

In addition to IT-related qualifications, experience in interdisciplinary research or practical application is required.

The teaching commitment must be implemented in lectures, seminars, exercises, practicals and projects as well as in continuing education in a professional and didactic manner and must be developed both independently and in close cooperation with the faculties. In doing so, the educational content must also be in accordance with the values and standards of the HSZG for responsible action towards fellow human beings, society and the environment.

Appointment requirements

• A completed academic university degree in a subject area within the field of appointment,
• a proven pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training,
• special aptitude for academic work, which is usually demonstrated by the quality of a doctorate, and
• special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of generally five years, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the university sector.

Teaching in the area of appointment must be ensured throughout the university in degree courses with and without an original IT subject reference. Special pedagogical and university didactic aptitude with regard to teaching students who are not studying computer science is therefore of particular interest. If necessary, courses related to the area of appointment should be taken on. The practical relevance of teaching activities must be continuously ensured.

The professorship is mainly effective in the basic/theory-related education of students, it is therefore an exceptional case according to §58(4) SächsHSFG and the application of §58(1) No. 4, lit. c SächsHSFG can be waived if §58(1) No. 4, letter a SächsHSFG is fulfilled. Reference is made to the Act on the Freedom of Universities in the Free State of Saxony (Sächsisches Hochschulfreiheitsgesetz - SächsHSFG) of 15.1.2013 (SächsGVBl. 2013 No. 1, p. 3).

• Ability and willingness to teach in English, knowledge of an Eastern European language is welcome due to the geographical location of the university in the border region of the border triangle Germany/Czech Republic/Poland,
• the continuous commitment to carry out independent research and development tasks in the field of appointment in addition to teaching duties in the area of appointment,
• active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the subject area,
• the assumption of tasks in academic self-administration and
• active participation in projects in the field of knowledge and technology transfer.
