Exchange of experience with the library of the Giant Mountains University in Hirschberg

The Giant Mountains University Library and our University Library want to work more closely together in the future.

On July 31, 2014, Kazimierz Jarema and Ralf Schwarzbach set off to exchange experiences with the library of the Giant Mountains University in Hirschberg (Karkonoska Państwowa Szkoła Wyższa in Jelenia Gora).

Before the actual visit to the library, they were welcomed by the rector, Prof. Gradkowski, the vice-rector, Prof. Winnicki, Prof. Zaprucki, and Mr. Szyc (responsible for computer technology at the university) as well as the officer of the vice-rector, Ms. Biniek, and the library director, Mr. Stapor. In his words of welcome, the Rector made it clear that he very much supports the planned project. He also referred to the recently completed "Healthy School" project, which was run with the Faculty of Social Sciences at our university. Mr. Jarema and Mr. Schwarzbach made it clear to the Rectorate that the library is interested in both short and long-term cooperation (e.g. EU project).

Mr. Stapor then gave a tour of the library. The partners then presented their ideas for short-term and long-term cooperation. There were difficulties in always finding the right words that would not allow any misinterpretations in the other language.

As a result of the visit, which lasted several hours, a joint document was drawn up together with the Polish partner as a basis for further cooperation.
