Crowdfunding enters the final phase! Committed HSZG students are hoping for support!
"Visions of the Future" is a contemporary art festival now being held in Görlitz for the 11th consecutive year. It is organized on a volunteer basis by dedicated students from the HSZG, who, alongside their studies, renovate a vacant building in the city to host an art exhibition. This year, the team consists of students from the bachelor’s and Master's degree programmes in “culture and management” and the bachelor’s program in “Social Work.”
The event aims to draw attention to decay and vacancy, serve as a platform for artists from Germany and beyond, and breathe new life into the city. Furthermore, under the motto “illusionen.verfallen,” it seeks to encourage visitors to indulge in their dreams and illusions.
This year, the festival will take place from May 20 to 27 in the old Jewish department store Totschek at Steinstraße 2-5 on Obermarkt. Since the mid-20th century, the building has stood vacant—except for an exhibition of antique furniture—but not for much longer!
Soon, not only will there be an exhibition featuring around 20 artists, but there will also be workshops on topics such as poetry slam, improvisational theater, body painting, and juggling, as well as barbecue and bar nights, a reading of authentic Görlitz legends, live performances by bands and DJs, and much more!
Mannequins in Görlitz: “Anyone who was out and about in downtown Görlitz on Saturday, April 24, 2017, might have seen them—the ZUKUNFTSVISIONEN2017 mannequins. Starting at the train station and heading down Berliner Straße to Steinstraße—this year’s ZuVi building—the project team, dressed in every shade of blue imaginable, made its way through the city. At four locations, they posed for a nearly four-minute-long still scene with banners and posters—drawing both interested and confused glances. We had a lot of fun doing it and now hope that this flash mob has drawn attention to the festival as well as the crowdfunding campaign on Startnext!"
Anyone who’d like to support the project today still has until May 6 to do so! The team is currently running a crowdfunding campaign at www.startnext.com/zuvi17 to raise funds for, among other things, transporting the artworks, paying the performing artists in the supporting program, and covering water and electricity costs. Supporters can contribute any amount they choose to the project; in return, they’ll receive, for example, admission tickets, T-shirts, or even extravagant gifts such as a photo shoot at the ZuVi Building or an exclusive candlelight dinner!
