At Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences is seeking to fill a W2 professorship in
“Psychology of Digital Media and Foundations of Psychology” (m/f/d) — Reference Number SP-095 —
on a full-time basis.
The future incumbent will hold a professorship in the field of "Digital Media Psychology and Foundations of Psychology," with a focus on the following areas:
- Digital media psychology (e.g., media psychology, usability, user experience),
- Fundamentals of cognitive psychology, particularly bio- and neuropsychology
in lectures, seminars, exercises, internships, and projects, as well as in continuing education programs. In particular, the candidate is expected to contribute relevant professional experience in the first area of focus—both in supervising internships and in application-oriented classes / courses conducted in collaboration with industry partners. For the second area of specialization, experience in the theoretical instruction of the aforementioned fundamentals is required.
Appointment Requirements
- a completed academic degree in the department of psychology or a related discipline,
- demonstrated pedagogical aptitude in teaching or training,
- a special aptitude for academic work, typically demonstrated by the quality of a doctoral dissertation,
- outstanding achievements in the application or development of academic knowledge and methods during a professional career as a psychologist specializing in digital media, typically spanning five years, of which at least three years must have been spent outside the academic sector,
- research experience in the field of appointment, as well as
- experience in supervising students.
Reference is made to the Act on the Freedom of Universities in the Free State of Saxony (Saxon Higher Education Freedom Act—SächsHSFG) of January 15, 2013 (SächsGVBl. p. 3), as last amended by the Act of June 1, 2022 (SächsGVBl. p. 381).
We expect you to
- to take on classes / courses, if necessary, in fields related to the area of appointment,
- the ability and willingness to teach in English,
- a continuous commitment to independently pursuing research and development tasks in the field of appointment, in addition to teaching obligations,
- active participation in the internationalization of the university and the further development of the department,
- Assumption of responsibilities in academic self-governance, as well as
- active participation in knowledge and technology transfer projects.
