Isabelle Pollak, student of housing and real estate management, reports on her experiences as a Germany Scholarship holder at the HSZG.
Are you interested in funding for your studies? Then take your chance for a Deutschlandstipendium at the HSZG! You can find all the important information here.
Our current and former Deutschlandstipendium scholarship holders know that an application is always worthwhile. How did they find out about the scholarship? How did they qualify for it? How does it enrich their everyday study life?
Germany Scholarship holder Isabelle Pollak provides insights into her experiences with the scholarship program and her path to studying at the HSZG so far.
Isabelle Pollak grew up in Dresden and went to school there. After graduating from high school, she first moved to South America. She worked as an au pair in Chile and then returned to Germany before deciding to train as a bank clerk at Deutsche Bank.
After completing her training, she decided to expand her career options by studying. "Itquickly became clear to me that I wanted to study something else that had always interested me alongside banking. I've always been enthusiastic about the real estate sector and have already done internships," says Isabelle.
Isabelle is studying Housing and Real Estate Management at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences and benefits from her knowledge gained through her training as a bank clerk, through which she recognizes many points of intersection between the real estate industry and the banking sector. The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences offers her a unique opportunity:
"You can often study real estate management in Germany, but never with the construction engineering aspect that Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences offers, and I really liked that." Isabelle Pollak, Germany Scholarship Holder 2021/22
For her practical semester, Isabelle particularly likes the area of real estate financing, which she can combine well with her training. But she also has many other options to choose from, from construction project planning to real estate valuation, which she can imagine for her future.
Alongside her studies, Isabelle also works as an assistant in the university's International Office: "The International Office looks after foreign students and, as I have already been abroad myself and would like to do a semester or internship abroad in the future, I can get involved and continue my education. I can also support other students," she says. When she's not working, Isabelle enjoys using the university sports facilities and spending her free time with friends.
After completing her studies, Isabelle attaches great importance to achieving a good balance between work and leisure. She says: "It 's important for me to have a good job that I feel comfortable in, but I also have personal goals, such as starting a family, staying healthy and, above all, traveling the world."
With the help of her sponsor ISS IMMOFANT Service Solution, Isabelle hopes that her Germany Scholarship will enable her to gain a foothold in the real estate industry and build her career near Zittau/Görlitz through internships in the region. Looking ahead, she says: "Even if the scholarship were to end, I would very much like both sides to stay in touch and I would always offer my help as much as I can."
