At the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, a position (40 hours/week) is available in the Department of Computer Science as of 01.11.2025 as a

Laboratory Engineer in Computer Science (m/f/d)
- Reference: 37-2025 LI-EI -

to be filled for a limited period until 31.10.2027.

The job essentially involves the following tasks

  • Installation, configuration and operation of hardware for the faculty's PC pools
  • Planning, preparation and realization of hardware renewal and procurement
  • Provision and maintenance of software within the PC pools for teaching purposes
  • Supporting the set-up, operation and further development of the faculty's laboratories (human-computer interaction and IoT/robots)
  • Preparation, implementation and evaluation of laboratory practicals
  • System-side support of the courses
  • Supporting the faculty with general engineering tasks
  • Ensuring and monitoring compliance with occupational safety in the PC pools, including instruction of users
  • Support in representative tasks of the faculty and in the recruitment of students.


The following knowledge and skills are required

  • completed university studies in the field of computer science
  • Practical professional experience in
    • Client administration incl. software distribution and patch management
    • network administration
  • good knowledge of higher programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java
  • Knowledge of lab-related technologies such as Unity, 3D and IoT development
  • English language skills ready for application.


In addition, the following are desirable

  • Knowledge of hardware procurement and maintenance
  • university didactic skills
  • Knowledge of occupational safety.

If the personal requirements are met, remuneration will be paid up to pay group 11 TV-L. The 1st place of work is Görlitz.
