Around 850 prospective students informed themselves about the study opportunities and study conditions at the HSZG.
9 a.m. was the time again. Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences opened its doors to school pupils, their parents and all other interested parties.
Around 850 prospective students took advantage of the university's offer and informed themselves in detail about the study opportunities and study conditions at both university locations. "We are very pleased that the January University Information Day was so well received this year," says Dr. Stefan Kühne, Head (of divison) of Academic Administration. "Around 250 more prospective students were welcomed by the organizers and participants at both university locations."
In addition to numerous prospective students from the region, the event also welcomed prospective students from the Dresden and Cottbus areas who had specifically made the journey to Zittau and Görlitz. They had already gathered information about the university at trade fairs or on the Internet and now wanted to see the study conditions at the university for themselves.
Rector Friedrich Albrecht welcomed the guests to Görlitz this year. "Choosing the right subject is one of the most important decisions you make in your life," he said. He encouraged the young people to take a look around the university and to talk to students from a wide range of degree courses. "Because that's where they get first-hand information," he said. He also encouraged the young visitors to take advantage of the taster courses on offer.
At the Zittau site, the Vice-Rector for Education and International Affairs, Professor Roland Giese, opened the university information day. He pointed out that the university would like to offer young people in the region in particular career prospects with its diverse and promising range of courses. "As a university, we are also interested in retaining young, intelligent people for companies, but also as young academics for the university itself," he said. He also recommended that guests make active use of the extensive range of offers in the event program.
First-hand information was available at the KIA (Cooperative Studies with Integrated Training) stand in Zittau, where numerous interested students gathered. KIA employees and KIA students from the university's training workshop were happy to answer questions about this now very popular form of training.
Many visitors were impressed by the modern, well-equipped university, but also by the informal atmosphere they found. The short lectures, taster opportunities and laboratory tours were very popular. The prospective students also made intensive use of the opportunity to talk to the students themselves and exchange ideas about everyday life at the university.
Sarah Martin from Ruppersdorf, for example, who has already completed vocational training as a graphic designer, obtained detailed information about studying computer science, engineering and natural sciences.
Many guests also took the opportunity to try out the food on offer in the canteens in Zittau and Görlitz and take a look at the University Libraries.
