Overcome your first language hurdles!

On November 20, 2017, the Faculty of Managerial and Cultural Studies hosted an event as part of the language project “Polish—The Language of Our Neighboring Country.”

Sixth- and seventh-grade students from the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Löbau, accompanied by their teachers Ms. Blumrich and Mr. Rabel, overcame the initial hurdles in learning Polish under the guidance of Prof. Dr. phil. Małgorzata Maćkowiak. With the enthusiastic support of the students from the Economics and Language degree programme (WSPb17)—Dominika Bartecka, Alicja Biernat, and Justyna Gola—they were able to learn Polish pronunciation in a playful way and successfully complete their first communication and math exercises with great dedication.

Thanks to Faculty Managers Gregor Hummel and Steffen Zücker, the students were able to learn a great deal—and more—about our university and our faculties. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Reiner Böhm (computer science) impressed our guests with the robotics lab. Perhaps these young people will return in a few years, encouraged by our staff and students, to enrich our university with their enthusiasm?
