The HSZG is taking part in Kindermiasto 2025 with its mobile learning center.
Every two years during the summer vacations, the Kindermiasto Zgorlitz takes place every two years during the summer holidays - a project in which Polish and German children aged 7 to 14 become citizens of their own town.
They manage their town themselves, set the rules for living together and can try out different professions. As in real life, they receive a salary that they can use as they wish for shopping in the stores, gastronomic delights or leisure activities.
Among the numerous career opportunities open to the city's citizens are jobs in municipal institutions (e.g. town hall, bank), in the skilled trades or in gastronomy.
This year there was also the opportunity to get involved in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) - for example at the HSZG stand.
On two days, young citizens had the opportunity to try their hand at STEM subjects and visit the mobile laboratory of the HSZG.
A special project was offered here: With support from the DLR_School_Lab the children were able to process natural fibers into panels and then use the laser cutter to further process and customize them.
The children were also able to discover other exciting technologies. They operated a robot arm themselves, experimented with the 3D printer and learned how a microscope works. Despite the hot temperatures, the children were very motivated and showed great interest in learning more.
