Master's in biotechnology and applied ecology
The Master's degree programme in “biotechnology and applied ecology” offers the specializations “Biodiversity and Nature Conservation” and “Biotechnology.”
The goal is to train professionals for international careers in the fields of biotechnology research, production, environmental prevention and remediation, as well as biodiversity research and nature conservation.
The first academic semester is not offered during the summer semester. However, graduates with a suitable bachelor’s degree worth 210 ECTS credits may be eligible to enter the second academic semester.
Information: Prospective students interested in the “Biodiversity and Nature Conservation” specialization should apply to Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Prospective students interested in the “Biotechnology” specialization should submit their application to the partner institution: the International University Institute (IHI) Zittau at TU Dresden.
Master's in Integrated Management Systems
Our Master's degree programme, which focuses on quality, environmental, energy, occupational safety, and IT security management systems, is the only one of its kind in Germany! This is a dual, part-time master’s program in which your company and our university work together to provide continuing education for specialists and managers to be deployed in the field of management systems.
Master's in Culture and Management
The “culture and management” Master’s degree programme is the only one of its kind in Germany offered by a business faculty. Thanks to the many hands-on components of our Master’s degree programme, we are able to offer in-person instruction throughout the programme in Görlitz, thereby ensuring interaction among students as well. In the winter semester of 2020–21, for example, two successful actresses decided to finally pursue their long-held dream of studying cultural management; they “traded the stage for the lecture hall.”
Master's in management of social change
Social change is ubiquitous in modern societies. It affects population structures and government institutions as well as technologies and business organizations, but also family structures and social identities. Current key dynamics—from “demographic change” to “digitization” and “globalization” to “socio-ecological upheaval”—make it clear that processes of social change are taking place at all levels and in all subsystems of society. We cannot ignore them; rather, we face the task of recognizing them and—to the extent possible—shaping them.
The master’s degree programme addresses this dual challenge and combines theoretical-conceptual, research-methodological, and application- and practice-oriented components. From an interdisciplinary perspective, the degree programme explores the structures and actors, forms and consequences of social transformation processes, as well as approaches and methods for the management of social change.
The program equips graduates to independently conduct analyses of social sciences related to social transformation processes and to advise and support individuals, groups, and organizations in shaping these processes in practice.
A total of 210 ECTS credits is required to begin the program in the summer semester.
Master's in Mechanical Engineering

Master's in Energy and Environmental Engineering

Master's in Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
Biotechnologically produced drugs, such as antibodies and therapeutic proteins, are becoming increasingly important in medical practice. With us, you’ll learn everything about the development, production, and application of such therapeutics.

Master's in Social Gerontology
One in five Germans is 65 or older—that’s 17 million people. By 2030, this number will rise to 22 million, or 29 percent of the population. This makes Germany the country with the oldest population on average in Europe
. And Saxony is the oldest federal state in Germany: demographic change here is 10 years ahead of the national average. Adapting existing care structures to this new situation turns Saxony into a “social experiment.” Solutions developed here have the potential to serve as models for the rest of Germany and beyond.
