Degree programs starting in the summer semester 2021:

Master's in Biotechnology and Applied Ecology

The Master's degree course in Biotechnology and Applied Ecology is offered with the specializations "Biodiversity and Nature Conservation" and "Biotechnology".

The aim is to train specialists for international employment in the fields of biotechnological research, production and environmental prevention and aftercare as well as biodiversity research and nature conservation.

No first semester is offered in the summer semester. However, graduates with a suitable Bachelor's degree with 210 ECTS credits may be able to start in the second semester.

Note: Prospective students interested in the specialization "Biodiversity and Nature Conservation" should apply to the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences. Prospective students interested in the specialization "Biotechnology" should send their application to the cooperation partner: International University Institute (IHI) Zittau of the TU Dresden.

Master Integrated Management Systems

Our Master's degree program with a focus on quality, environmental, energy, occupational health and safety and IT security management systems is unique in Germany! We attach great importance to a very practical education: you will have to prove your knowledge in project work in companies during your studies. We make you fit for current tasks relating to management systems in companies, whether large or small, producing or providing services. Companies need well-trained specialists in this field.

Would you like to study abroad during your degree? No problem, we offer a double degree with the ITMO University in St. Petersburg.

Do you work and want to study part-time? Then take advantage of our study option KIADirekt . This is a dual, part-time Master's degree program, in which your company and our university jointly train specialists and managers for their work in the field of management systems.

Master's in Culture and Management

The Master's degree program in Culture and Management is the only one in Germany to be offered at a Faculty of Business and Economics. Due to the many laboratory elements of our Master's degree program, we can offer face-to-face elements throughout the course in Görlitz and thus also ensure contact between students. In the winter semester 2020/21, for example, two successful actresses decided to finally realize their long-cherished dream of studying Cultural Management; they swapped the "stage for [the] lecture hall".

Master Management of Social Change

Social change is omnipresent in modern societies. It affects population structures and state institutions as well as technologies and business organizations, but also family forms and social identities. Current key dynamics - from "demographic change", "digitalization" and "globalization" to "socio-ecological upheaval" - make it clear that social change processes are taking place at all levels and in all subsystems of society. We cannot ignore them, but are faced with the task of recognizing them and - as far as possible - shaping them.

The Master's degree program deals with this dual task and combines theoretical-conceptual, research-methodological as well as application- and practice-oriented components. Structures and actors, forms and consequences of social change processes as well as approaches and methods of social change management are taught from an interdisciplinary perspective.

The course enables graduates to independently carry out social science analyses of social change processes and to advise and support individuals, groups and organizations in their practical design.

210 ECTS credits are required to start the course in the summer semester.

Master Mechanical Engineering

A world without machines is unimaginable today. Weather satellites, airplanes, elevators and pedelecs have become an integral part of our everyday lives. Designing these technical devices, simulating how they work and finally building them is a mentally and technically demanding and highly creative task.

In the future, digitalization will also radically change mechanical engineering. If you want to help shape the path to intelligently networked, self-controlling production or the use of new materials for sustainable and high-performance components in mechanical engineering, a Master's degree with us is the next step in your career.

This course requires 210 ECTS points. This can be achieved by means of a "propaedeutic semester" in the summer semester so that you can start your studies in the winter semester.

Master's in Energy and Environmental Technology

Develop efficient and environmentally friendly technologies for the use of energy resources or conduct research into the production and use of radioactive isotopes in medicine. You can also assist in the dismantling of radiation technology facilities.
Decide for yourself in which area you see your personal future. With the Energy Technology degree course at Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, you can successfully start your career in energy supply companies, supervisory authorities or research institutions!

210 ECTS points are required for this degree course. This can be achieved by means of a "preparatory semester" in the summer semester, so that you can start studying in the winter semester.

Master of Mechatronics

The Mechatronics degree program deals with the integration of different technologies in the development of new processes and products.

This degree course requires 210 ECTS credits. This can be achieved by means of a "propaedeutic semester" in the summer semester, so that studies can be started in the winter semester.

Master Pharmaceutical Biotechnology

Biotechnologically produced drugs such as antibodies and therapeutic proteins are becoming increasingly important in medical practice. Here you will learn everything about the development, production and application of such therapeutics.

210 ECTS points are required to start the course in the summer semester.

Master Social Gerontology

One in five Germans is aged 65 and over - that's 17 million people. By 2030, this figure will rise to 22 million or 29 percent of the population. This makes Germany the country with the
oldest population on average in Europe. And Saxony is the oldest federal state in Germany: the demographic change in this country is 10 years ahead of the national average. Adapting existing care structures to this new situation is turning Saxony into a "social experiment". Solutions that are developed here have the potential to serve as a model for the rest of Germany and beyond.

As an educational institution, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is taking up the challenge of training management personnel to deal with the problems associated with demographic change. The Master's degree program aims to train highly qualified experts.

Applications for this course are possible until 01.04.2021.
