The Görlitz District has succeeded in securing large quantities of hand sanitizer. However, it is still stored in 5-liter bulk containers. The sanitizer must now be decanted into smaller containers so that everyone can use it.

However, handling hazardous substances and biocides—especially in large quantities—requires special precautions. For this reason, the Görlitz district asked the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences at HSZG to determine whether it would be possible to use laboratories equipped with the appropriate protective gear.

With its Chemistry laboratory, the Faculty of Natural and Environmental Sciences meets the necessary requirements. Following internal coordination and preparations, the HSZG agreed to provide support to the district.

On Wednesday, April 22, the first 50 liters were decanted into convenient 1-liter containers. Just one day later, they were made available to the Görlitz district for further distribution to professional users (e.g., the state police). The Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences assured the district of its continued support should the need arise.
