Mr. Panke, head of the department for the protection of historical monuments, takes us on a historical retrospective of Görlitz as a place to live. He will look at how the city has developed over the centuries and how the evidence of the various building developments is still good to see today: for example, the famous Görlitz hall houses, the Art Nouveau houses or social housing projects of the 20th century. He will also look at the development in the Polish part of the European City of Görlitz/Zgorzelec. How have the demands on living spaces changed over the centuries?
*Tobias Panke is Head of the Monument Protection Department at Görlitz City Council.
