A recital about courage and the will to live
The program centers on works by the Luxembourgish composer and pianist Albena Petrovic. The three songs from her radio opera “Das blaue Klavier” (The Blue Piano) pay tribute to female artists who were persecuted by the dictatorships of National Socialism and Stalinism. Matthias Theodor Vogt, a professor at the University of Görlitz and director of the Institute for Cultural Infrastructure, wrote the libretto for this opera. He will also introduce the program that evening. Composer Albena Petrovic sums up the program as follows: “All the works are inspired by women who never lose hope. A woman is not merely an object of love and tenderness. She is a fighter.” Other pieces are by Gabriel García Lorca and Maurice Ravel, as well as contemporary compositions from Georgia.
