An evening of songs about courage and the courage to face life
The focus is on works by Luxembourg composer and pianist Albena Petrovic. The three songs from her radio opera "The Blue Piano" commemorate female artists who were persecuted by the dictatorships of National Socialism and Stalinism. Görlitz university professor and director of the Institute for Cultural Infrastructure, Matthias Theodor Vogt, wrote the libretto for this opera. He will also introduce the program on this evening. Composer Albena Petrovic sums up the program as follows: "All the works are inspired by women who never lose hope. The woman is not just an object of love and tenderness. She is a fighter." Other pieces are by Gabriel Garcia Lorca and Maurice Ravel as well as contemporary compositions from Georgia.
