Online pre-conference for the 15th Annual Engineering Education Conference

The 15th Annual Conference on Engineering Education organized by the IPW, originally scheduled for May 2020, has now been postponed by a full year due to current circumstances: It will take place June 17–19, 2021, at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

To prepare for 2021, we invite all interested parties to attend:

Participation in the Pre-Conference is free of charge for everyone, You can also bring this to the attention of interested students, who will gain valuable insights into issues in engineering education around the globe.

Plenary Lecture by Hans Joachim Bargstädt: Engineering Education in Vietnam—What Can We Learn from It?
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Bargstädt of the Bauhaus University Weimar is a founding member of the 4ING Faculty Days and served as its chair in 2017 and 2018. From February to June 2020, he was a visiting professor in Vietnam. There, he collaborated with local universities on teaching programs and research proposals. Despite—or perhaps precisely because of—the restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, insightful findings emerged that pertain both to the pedagogical program in engineering education and to addressing current challenges.

Short Presentations: Short talks with discussion—submissions to the 15th Annual Conference that have been reviewed and, at the speakers’ request, are being published online ahead of schedule.

Parallel workshops organized by IPW working groups—“Ethics in the Digital World,” “Vocational Education,” “Fundamentals of Engineering Education,” and “People and Technology”—invite discussion with keynote presentations. Here, experiences with online teaching this year will also be addressed and discussed in various contexts.

Summary and Closing

Publication: The papers will subsequently be published online and included in the 2021 conference proceedings.
