Every year, the Information Center Umgebindehaus (IZU ) holds a lecture evening on the Wednesday before the Umgebindehaus Open House Day. The IZU of the Faculty of Business Administration and Engineering Management at the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences is a scientific point of contact for topics relating to the Umgebindehaus and is committed to preserving this regionally significant building style.
This year's lecture evening will take place on May 24, 2023 at 17:00 in room 0.01 and 0.02 in the ZIV building of the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, Theodor-Körner-Allee 8 in Zittau.
Ms. Anka Böthig (architect, building biologist, color designer) from naturwerkstatt Dresden will speak on the topic of "Color on the Umgebindehaus - materials, colorfulness, design".
Based on historical coating techniques with the materials used at the time, currently available paint materials will be discussed. Recommendations for paint materials and paint structures on the Umgebindehaus will be derived. One focus of the lecture evening will be the coloration of the Umgebindehaus in a historical context. Based on findings on the monument, the production of the relevant historical paint finishes will be discussed in consultation with the Monuments Office.
