The Lausitz – Life & Technology (L&T) Alliance is a collaborative project between Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences, the Görlitz District, ULT AG, and the Fraunhofer Institute for Machine Tools and Forming Technology IWU.
L&T aims to sustainably strengthen the economic power and thus the development potential of the (Upper) Lausitz region amid regional structural change through technical, economic, and social innovations.
In the fields of additive manufacturing and networked energy storage technologies, as well as non-formal education and attractive work and living environments, creative ideas and research and development resources are to be translated into innovation projects.
The theme of the alliance meeting reflects a fundamental strategic goal of L&T and is entirely focused on the integration of social and technological innovations in Lausitz.
The L&T Structural Change Talk will kick off the event. This new format is designed to allow L&T to enrich and expand the social dialogue surrounding the structural change process by introducing fresh perspectives through both technological and social approaches.
Together with representatives from politics, business, research, and civil society, we will explore the importance and relevance of social innovations, as well as their immediate and long-term impact on structural change in Lausitz, and discuss the challenges involved.
Following this, L&T invites participants to take part in two workshops on integrating technical and technological innovations with social innovations to explore the topic in greater depth through practice-oriented processes.
Complementing the main program of the alliance meeting, the exhibition “Working Differently for the Better” by L&T alliance partner Working Evolutions will showcase modern approaches to the world of work in (Upper) Lausitz. The exhibition explores the concept of “New Work” —a topic closely linked to the L&T innovation field “Attractive Environments for Education, Work, and Living”—and highlights the close ties to innovation-driven stakeholders in Upper Lusatia as well as efforts to attract future skilled workers to the region.
