Course Content
The master’s degree programme in computer science provides you with in-depth subject knowledge and methodological skills over the course of four semesters. The degree programme combines theoretical foundations with practical application and offers you increasing opportunities to pursue your own areas of specialization.
You’ll explore topics such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, advanced database concepts, web applications, IT security management, and low-level programming. Starting in the second semester, you’ll begin individualized specialization phases that allow you to set your own areas of focus based on your personal interests and career goals—for example, in fields such as interactive systems, IT management, or software engineering. The third semester offers you further specialization opportunities and includes a research project in which you work on a real-world problem and apply scientific methods. In the fourth semester, you’ll focus entirely on your master’s thesis, in which you’ll independently tackle a challenging topic and demonstrate the theoretical, practical, and scientific skills you’ve acquired.

Admission Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in a computer science degree programme. For students with a Diplom degree, the duration of study can generally be shortened through the recognition of course modules. In the past, graduates of STEM subjects—such as mathematics—who have a strong interest in creative work in software development have also successfully graduated from this degree programme.
