LaTeX is a flexible, platform-independent TeX typesetting system for creating documents of print-quality. This system can be used to create academic papers such as Diplom theses and PhD theses, or even entire books. A major advantage is its ability to create mathematical formulas and equations. Unlike well-known, popular word processing programs, LaTeX does not operate on the “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” principle. This means that the layout, headings, tables of contents, tables, and other elements are defined using source code and translated into a document by a compiler.
This workshop is designed to teach the basics of creating such documents, including the technical requirements for creating LaTeX documents, the structure of TeX documents, creating tables of contents, tables, and graphics, math mode, and more. Please bring a laptop!
