On October 23, 2014, students from the Faculties of Mechanical Engineering were invited to take part in the Library Day at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen. The event, which was organized by our project partner, the University Library of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, as part of the Objective 3 project "Saxon-Czech Library Network - Information without Borders", was very well received by students from Chemnitz University of Technology, Liberec University of Technology and Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences.

The welcoming address by the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Doz. Milan Edl, Ph.D., opened the event, which focused on machining technologies. The Regional Technical Institute (RTI) of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering informed the participants in the lecture " Research and Development of Machining Technologies" about their main research areas, which are developed in close cooperation with partners from the industry. The visit to the company Hofmeister, s.r.o. then offered the participants the opportunity to gain a detailed insight into the production processes of standard and special tools for metalworking in practice, and with the subsequent visit to the institute's laboratory for experimental machining, they were able to round off their picture of research into machining technology. The University Library of the University of West Bohemia presented its services and offers in the field of information mediation and information management. Afterwards, the participants were informed by the library director Ms. Faitová about the research possibilities in the university library, which was expanded in 2014.

The involvement of students in the Objective 3 project "Saxon-Czech Library Network - Information without Borders" met with a consistently positive response. We would like to thank everyone involved, especially our project partner, the Pilsen University Library, for making the Library Day possible.
