At this year's INSIDERTREFF at the exhibition grounds in Löbau, the Zittau/Görlitz University of Applied Sciences (HSZG) presented itself with an impressive stand that not only showed size, but above all content.
The GAT Institute, which uses assistance technologies from the AAL (Active Assisted Living) laboratory, provided an exciting insight into the connection between technology and care.
Numerous visitors were able to experience first-hand how modern technologies can revolutionize everyday care and support the lives of older people. The focus was on innovations that offered a practical impression, especially for prospective students on the Faculty of Social Sciences' nursing degree program. One particular highlight was the GERT - an age simulation suit that allowed users to put themselves in the shoes of older people for a short time. Restrictions in mobility, vision and hearing were made impressively tangible - an aha experience not only for prospective care professionals. The VR glasses, which simulated realistic scenarios, and the user-friendly Enna tablet, which was specially developed for senior citizens, were also very popular. These technologies could be tried out extensively on site and were met with great interest. Small prizes were also up for grabs at several stations on the extensive HSZG stand - a successful combination of information, interaction and entertainment.
The response to the GAT Institute's presentation was consistently positive. Many conversations revolved around study opportunities in the fields of nursing, social work and technology support in everyday life. With this presentation, the GAT showed how attractive and relevant studying at the HSZG is - especially in the age of demographic change.
